Possets: Part 1 of a surprisingly large order

Part 1 bottles.

I recently bit the bullet and made a huge order from Possets. I bought 6 full sizes (to hit the $75 free shipping worldwide, oh yes) and was also sent 12 free samples. TWELVE. So I'm splitting this review into a few parts because it is going to get insanely unwieldy. This review will deal with the full sizes I got.

I picked up Myrtle of Venus (reviewed here), Limoncello: Giardino Rosmarino (reviewed here), Dance With Me, Pippen Pie, Mrs. Rabbit's Carrot Cake, and High Tea. I ordered on a Saturday night and Fabienne had it shipped out on Monday. She is so fast, it blows my mind. Especially when you consider the size of her catalogue. It arrived in my hands in about 9 days. And, of course, it came with 12 free samples. Magic.

Dance With Me

A classy variation of everyone's favorite lavender vanilla but substituting grapefruit for lavender and under-girding it with white musk. Enchantingly innocent but with loads of guile

This was very heartily recommended to me. It lives up to expectation! This starts off with sharp, sweet, incredibly realistic grapefruit before mellowing into a beautiful creamy grapefuit vanilla, and finally fading down to a tangy vanilla. This is gorgeous - I don't think I can gush enough. It lasted about five hours on me. It has great sillage, wafting about very delicately.

High Tea

High Tea was rousted out of retirement by popular demand in 2007. A very true to tea blend it has the wonderful characteristic of being warming in the winter and cooling in the summer. Infused with lemon, sugar, milk, and that indescribable scent of the best starched linens, High Tea is your antidote to vulgarity. Always right for the moment and universally admired. This is tea at its most Possety. Characteristics: unisex. refreshing, tea, sweet, cooling, summer scent, warming winter scent, foody, gourmand,.

This one starts off with a bright, sunny lemony tea- kind of like a delicious glass of iced tea. The lemon fades after about half an hour, and the scent becomes more of a delicate, floral tea. It puts me in mind of those blossoming teas. I used to beg my mother to buy them for me. It hugs very close to the skin, and dried down to a softly sweet milky scent. It lasted about four hours on my skin. I think this would be a nice layering scent - it would go well with something fruity. More experimentation needed!

Mrs. Rabbit's Carrot Cake

No wonder Mrs. Rabbit has all those children, with cake this delicious she has managed to make love slaves of every male bunny in the bunnyhood. The most moist and vanilla drenched melting cake shot through with sugar encrusted rum kissed currents and golden raisins (which crunch in your mouth) and crowned with the richest butterfilled sour cream and ricotta frosting and trimmed with tiny spun sugar carrots, grass, and... I cannot go on. This stuff is just ineffable. Try it yourself. Ahhhhh.

Possets is my new favourite gourmand maker. This smells exactly like carrot cake. I got the moist carroty, spicy smell of the cake and delicious cheesecake frosting. Smelling this was making my mouth water. I need to make a carrot cake now. It hugs pretty close to the skin, as well, which is probably for the best since I smelled exactly like a carrot cake and I was making myself hungry. This lasted about four hours on my skin.

Pippin Pie

The juiciest and most tart apples, the flakiest and most buttery pastry, heaps and heaps of sugar and a kiss of spice. This is Pippin Pie. Back from the original Possets' Halloween lineup by popular demand. You will just love this one. fruity, foody, gourmand.

This also smells exactly like a fresh apple pie. Apples, cinnamon, sugar, and deliciously flaky pastry. I forgot I was wearing it for a bit and started looking around for the pie my SO had brought home (he didn't bring home any pie. Sadness. Perhaps my dad will oblige me in making a pie at Thanksgiving). It is so realistic. I cannot express how much so. The apple and the pastry alternate the starring roles in the scent. It lasted about six hours on my skin.

I'm so pleased with this order. I'm going to be delving into my pile of samples next, but these full sizes have knocked it out of the water. This was my second order from Possets, and the first of any size, and I'm delighted with how it went. As always, you can check out the vast Possets catalogue at her website.

(As an aside, does anyone else hate the feel of those freshly printed waterproof labels? Touching them makes my skin crawl, though I appreciate the durability.)
