The Much Anticipated Solstice Scents Summer Collection!

I was chomping at the bit to get my hands on the Solstice Scents summer collection, which was late in coming out this year. I had been sitting on a giftcard I'd redeemed my points from their loyalty program for, and I just really love Solstice Scents, so I was dying for this one.

So, naturally, I was sitting at the computer with my hand hovered over my touchpad, ready toadd things to my cart. I ordered a full size of the general catalogue Blueberry Muffin Batter, and snagged full sizes of Tenebrous Mist and Tropical Moon, as well as a whipped soap in Root Beer Float (a separate post on this may be forthcoming; it is no longer available, so I may sit on this review till next year. Rest assured I like it). I requested Sun-Warmed Honey as my free sample.

And I got to use my giftcard and it was good.

The only truly sad part is that my order arrived while I was camping in Prince Edward Island and I had to wait a few days before getting to sniff all of the goodies. Such torture for a perfume addict!

This is the shore that one of the campgrounds we stayed at backed onto. I wasn't really suffering without my SS.

Blueberry Muffin Batter

Plump Blueberries, Sweet Brown Sugar Crumb Topping, a Touch of Vanilla Bean, Liquid Cane Sugar & Batter

For whatever reason, every time I have tried to order this, I have a) forgotten or b) it's sold out. Actually, it's sold out right now too. But the good thing is that it is a general catalogue scent, so it's always going to come back.

And thank goodness it does! This is a delicious scent, smelling like blueberry pancakes. It's similar to Blooddrop's At the Diner After Rocky, without the maple syrup. The blueberries are more prominent in this blend. The sillage, as with most SS fragrances, is fantastic, and the wear time is equally fantastic, lasting eleven hours on my skin. It fades to a lovely sweet vanilla.

Tenebrous Mist

Soft Musks, White Amber, Sea Spray, Sandalwood, Bay Rum, Tea Leaves & Wood Smoke

I picked up this one in a full size because I a) like to live dangerously; b) I like oceanic blends; and c) it was very strongly recommended by LiberVix. It's a very masculine scent on me, at first - the sandalwood overwhelms for about fifteen minutes, before softening  and becoming more aquatic. It smells like the remnants of a driftwood fire on the shore, with salt and sea spray and a hint of fading smoke. It smells like late summer nights (in my mind). I'm glad it turns out to be more unisex in the end, because I don't really like masculine-leaning scents on myself. It also had great sillage, but weaker on the staying power, lasting only five hours on me.

Tropical Moon

Coconut, Tuberose, Tahitian Gardenia, Lime Essential Oil & Pink Lotus Attar

This is a beautiful, creamy, aptly named perfume. I really like it. It smells awesome and has great sillage. It lasted ten hours on me. But. There's a but.

I seemed to have some kind of reaction to the oil. I first noticed it about five minutes after I put it on (so I'm pretty sure it's not the photosensitivity of the lime oil, because I wasn't outside). I thought it was because I had been holding my makeup brush for a while and I tend to get red marks on my outer wrist when It's been bent a certain way for a while. But the mark never went away, and even after washing my wrist once the scent was gone, I still have red marks there. It's not itchy. It's not raised. So, I don't know. I'm going to see if this repeats in a few days, because I have been breaking from my normal routines as of late and my skin has been acting up in general. If it does, I guess I'll be selling it. Even though I like it.

Sun-Warmed Honey

Honey, Apricot, Strawberry, Chamomile, Kunzea, Ginger, Orange Blossom

I was super iffy on this one because the description talked about the fruit notes being more dominant, but I really can't stand honey at all. So I decided to play it safe. It starts off with this amazing frutiy scent that smelled like a brighter, redder version of Haus of Gloi's Lassi. This lasted for about half an hour, when the honey started to dominate. I find honey to be too powdery for me, and this one wasn't so much, but I still didn't love it. After about an hour and a half total of wearing it, I scrubbed it off because the honey was getting to me. It started so promising! Alas.

You can buy Solstice Scents' summer and other collections here. They stock collections for quite some time so you can get these for a while yet!.
