Lou Lou's: The Cake Edition

So while I didn't have a smashing success with my first set of samples from Lou Lou's, I decided to go for it again, since I really wanted a full size of Lime Margarita. And this first official order was a smooth experience. I would not hesitate to recommend her shop.

Evelyn requires international customers to contact her in order to set up a custom listing. I ended up choosing three of the full sizes (full sizes are 1 dram - 3.7ml - bottles and cost $5USD) and messaged Evelyn with my choice. She responded promptly with a quote, and asked me if I wanted her to make a listing. I said yes, and she let me know when she would be able to create a listing, and when she would be able to get to the post office to ship out. She messaged me when my listing went live, and I was even able to use a promo code on her Facebook page on my order.

She shipped quickly and it arrived in less than a week. Evelyn is a delight to shop from, and it was a very pleasant experience.

I've been putting my 1 dram bottle of perfume in these 5ml rollerball perfume bottles. They are perfect for the 1 drams.

The scents I picked up were Lime Margarita (reviewed in the link above), Blueberry Cheesecake, and Spiced Pear Cake. Evelyn included samples of Addictions and Good Morning, and a cute little soap in the scent Bite Me. It smells like fruit punch, though my SO disagrees and says it smells like candy.

Isn't it cute?

Blueberry Cheesecake

Blueberry Cheesecake is a blend of creamy cheesecake, fresh wild blueberries, and graham cracker crust.

I got this during my cheesecake phase, and oh my, this delivers. It is a delicious cheesecake topped with blueberries and graham cracker crust. You can smell all of the individual parts, and together they are a fantastic dessert scent. This is pretty long-lived on me, lasting eight hours. It dries down to a sweet, gooey vanilla. The sillage is middling on this, not terribly far-reaching, but also not tied to the skin. Mmmm. This is a definite favourite.

Spiced Pear Cake

Ripened Anjou pears, warm vanilla bean, butter, nutmeg, clove, and hints of apple over amber and musk.

This is a spicy cake scent with only a little bit of pear. It's nice, though not quite what I expected. It fades into a spicy cream scent. It dries down a touch powdery on me, but nothing drastic. This one lasted five hours on my skin, and wore very close to the skin.

Good Morning

Sugar crusted blueberry muffins with butter, a bowl of maple syrup drizzled oatmeal, sugar cookies, and a warm mug of vanilla bean infused milk.

I didn't read the notes for this until I pasted them into this post. It smelled bright and cheery, all delicious breakfast scents in the vial. Like pancakes and maple syrup and cinnamon and some fruit. On my skin it was a delicious platter of French toast, sprinkled with cinnamon and maple syrup. It is really good. It lasted six hours, pretty solidly French toast the whole time. The sillage was decent, and I was extra hungry when wearing it.

Addiction base perfume includes a glass of red wine, a cup of coffee, a can of cola, cigarette smoke, a bag of fruity candy, an assortment of cupcakes, a bowl of fresh fruit, amber, and musk to name a few of the many notes. I blended this perfume into a creamy vanilla base with light touches of fruits, rose and lavender. The carrier oil is a vanilla bean and blueberry coffee infused coconut oil. You may find stray coffee grinds or vanilla seeds that made their way through the straining process.

This one smelled a little smoky and coffee-esque in the vial. Somewhat dubiously, I dabbed it on. My SO declared it unwearable and refused to go near me while I was testing it. So on that alone, it's a failure for me - there are only so many perfume battles I can hope to win! On my skin it was kind of fruity, with some deeper smoke and coffee, and some decidedly odd scents wafting in and out. It blossomed to a very wine-y scent, and while I adore wine, I don't think I should smell like it. Ultimately, I ended up washing it off, because the sheer amount of notes was giving me a headache.
