Solitary Scrutiny: Ten Three Labs McNamara

What a long, weary week. I'm glad it's over, and that I have two days with nothing planned to recuperate and prepare for next week. Friday evenings are my favourite part of the weekend: the weekend is still filled with possibilities, as I haven't frittered my weekend away by sleeping in and spending too much time window-shopping online (this is a really bad habit that I'm trying to kick, but sometimes on a lazy, hot weekend afternoon...). There is still room and time from grand plans like going out for dessert at the fancy dessert place and going for a hike and shopping for new pillows and starting a painting and rearranging the living room, in amongst the usual weekend chores like laundry.

So once again on a Friday evening, I am filled with rosy-coloured pictures of the fun I'm going to have this weekend, even though I know that once Monday rolls around, I will have not done half of the things I said I was going to do and they will be relegated to another list for another Friday evening.

I am going to go to the dessert place, though.

This week's scrutiny is Ten Three Labs' perfume oil in McNamara. I think this is part of the Westerburg collection, which was a collaboration with Corvus Cosmetics and is inspired by the movie Heathers. I've never seen the movie because I'm just like that, so I don't get the reference.

I did, however, have three girls named Heather in the same class in university. Make of that what you will.

I was on a die-hard lemonade binge in the spring: I drank tons of lemonade, I tried strawberry lemonade frozen yogurt (better as an idea than in actual execution), and lusted after lemonade scents. I had one already in my collection, but it was lemonade and other things, and I really just wanted a lemonade scent, despite the fact citrus scents have no tenacity. The part of me that was guzzling lemonade went searching. I ultimately settled on McNamara, because I was familiar with Ten Three. It's a raspberry lemonade scent (seriously, that's the whole description, raspberry lemonade), so not pure lemonade, but I do love a good berry lemonade - the grocery store next me has started squeezing fresh juice and they've been doing a ton of berry lemonades: strawberry, raspberry, blackberry...and I love them.

In the bottle. it smells like tangy raspberry lemonade, perfectly sour. There's another note too, that persisted throughout wear. It gives it a more adult feel. It's fairly linear throughout wear, and surprisingly, lasted about five hours on my skin. The lemonade scent disspiated after a couple of hours, but leaves a tang behind to cut the sweetness of the raspberry. The sillage is moderate. All around, I'm very happy with this scent, even though I made myself slightly tired of lemonade for the time being.

  1. Hmm, sounds like the kind of scent I might like!

2018 Reads: October to December

I DID IT! I read 52 books in 2018. However, I didn't really do what I set out to do, which was to learn to enjoy reading again at a more...
